Commercial Landscape Construction Foreman
Overview
The Landscape Construction Foreman is an experienced individual in commercial landscape construction. This individual directs a team of two or more in the construction of commercial landscape jobs. The foreman reads blue prints, lays out plants, communicates with the site superintendent and makes sure the crew is productive each day. During the winter months, the Foreman will be responsible for snow removal operations and will be on call 24/7 and available for all snow events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Monitor work habits and coach employees to achieve high productivity standards, safety compliance, and policy adherence

Conducts operations in a manner which promotes safety

Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area
-
Proficiently operate a variety of mechanical equipment, including skid steers, mini skid steers, excavators, plate compactors, drills, chop saws, chain saws, hedge shears, demolition hammers, jack hammers, and laser transits.

Layout and install plants per plan while using proper planting techniques

Read landscape design prints and implements the landscape construction plan

Understand elevations and use this knowledge to execute the construction plan

Routinely interact with clients by way of introductions, answering questions, responding to clients’ requests, making reasonable changes to the plan, and providing a walk-through at the job’s completion

Ability to make informed and educated decisions about horticulture

Resolve problems while keeping in mind the best interest of the company, clients

Assigned snow removal duties in the winter months
-
All other duties as assigned
Requirements
-
2 years’ experience in landscape construction
-
Strong organization, project management, and communication skills
-
Ability to work as a team
-
High School Diploma or Equivalent
-
Associate degree or higher in related field strongly preferred

Valid Driver’s License - Must meet insurance underwriting requirements

Regional Snow & Landscape Manager
Overview

The Regional Snow/Landscape Manager is responsible for selling new snow removal / Landscape work and retaining current accounts in his/her assigned territory. During the snow removal season this position will manage property sites to ensure customers receive superior and reliable snow removal service. During the landscape season you will be prospecting/bidding for snow removal and landscape install projects. When you win a snow removal / landscape project in Columbus you will be expected to act as project manager and point of contact on that project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales Management

Prospect for potential new clients; cold calling is a must – just ask if you can bid!

Quote a minimum of $2,000,000 in new snow work and maintain a 20% close ratio
-
Quote a minimum of $2,000,000 in Landscape install work
-
Quote salt sales if salt is available for sale
-
Network - join industry organizations, attend industry functions
-
Keep sales logs up to date - LMN
-
Use Oberson’s approved estimating and pricing procedures
-
Maintain a gross margin goal on total portfolio of business
-
Prepare site maps to review with clients prior to the snow season.

Participate in a weekly staff meeting – Face to face and or phone/technology

Operations Management Snow​
-
Work with operators to determine capacity and service areas
-
Follow Oberson’s procedures to train operators in job specifics, scope of work, time sheets, billing, quality and safety.

Ensure all clients sites are being serviced to expectations during a snow event
-
Respond to client complaints during a snow event
-
Document damage to jobsite pre season and post season. Ensure operators repair any damage they caused during the snow season.

Collaborate with Oberson’s Cincinnati office on regional clients and bid packages
-
You will have a combo rig to address any issues during a snow event and to do follow up service the following days after the snow event ends

Project management – Must understand how project will be built from start to finish

Attend weekly job site meetings

Change orders and invoicing

Qualification Requirements
-
2 or 4 year Business related degree or equivalent industry experience without a degree
-
Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in the snow and ice management arena
-
Resolve problems while keeping in mind the best interest of the company, clients and foreman operators
-
Able to dive a pickup truck with a plow and salt spreader
-
Work with numbers accurately; good working knowledge of math and business formulas, including gross margin and P&L statements
-
Do any of the following for an extended period: sit at a desk, work on a computer, drive, walk
-
Proficient in various computer programs, including Excel, Word, Estimating and job cost systems
